I Need a Property

I have always been a fan of heavy duty vehicles, I mean the four wheel drive ones and I liked the Land Cruise more than anything else. We have three properties in different areas of the country, two of them are in a relatively posh area so we do not face much issues, one of our apartments however is located in a area we have long been avoiding. However because we inherited the property and that is where our forefathers lived, the last thing we can do is sell it off. Among the many problems we have been facing is the constant clogging up of the piping system. The problem seems to be underground so we often have to have a gutter cleaning firm to resolve the problem for us.

I have been researching New York city apartments to see how much they cost so I can either make an investment for profitability through buy to let schemes or may be just keep it vacant and use when we visit New York during our holidays or business meetings. We have many relatives living in New York and we always thought owning a property or two would be the best choice. What was always putting us off was the cost of such a purchase. Property prices have been on the rise and New York has always been one of the most expensive areas to consider owning a property. We have always been saving money and now we feel we are in a position to make the final decision.

This year my family is deciding to go vacations but we are not yet decided on where to go. One of the most important destinations for us this year is for now London, with Olympics around the corner we thought it would be a nice overall experience to be there. Because such opportunities are rare, and Olympics in London is one of the most unique and pleasant combinations one can find.

However my wife has a different opinion, she doesn’t like a destination that many others are heading to at the same time as she says it gets prone to issues that make one uncomfortable. I think she has the Malaysian Matta Fair 2012 in mind and she might want us to go there instead of London.

We are not yet decided though, lets see what happens.

I’ve been thinking about whether or not it makes sense to buy a property for the sole reason of eventually renting it out to someone and having another revenue stream.   How much of a hassle this could lead to, is my worry.

I am aware there are companies that take care of all the landlord issues, but they take a huge percentage of the profit you could potentially make.  So, I’m not sure if buying/selling/renting property is in my future.

I think there are better investments to be made right now than investing into property.  Although, it seems like property values are at an all-time low right now, so maybe in twenty years, I could retire by selling the properties I have.

I guess I’ll have to keep giving it more through to see if it is worth it.   However, I know I need a great deal of capital to actually buy any property, so I will have at least a couple years time before I have t contemplate such decisions.
